We've all seen banner ads on websites, industry portals, and even some on blogs. Now then, one has to ask how much money can you get for a banner ad on a blog? It really depends on the amount of traffic, and what your niche happens to be.

Not long ago, I talked to someone that was specializing in roofing material for the construction industry and he had a blog with all kinds of information on it. Contractors from around the industry would come and discuss the blog posts that he had put up, and soon it seemed like the entire industry had signed up for his e-mail list.

Obviously, this attracted building material companies that sold roofing supplies, and therefore, it made sense to offer the banner ads. It turns out his website, which is just a blog is making about $ 6000 a month and he has 10 banner ads which show up in rotation, with not more than three on the page at any one time. Of the $ 6000 he makes each month $ 3500 off his banner ads. This means his banner ads are definitely bringing home the bacon on his blog.

Is this typical you ask?

No, probably not at first but many bloggers find that they can charge $ 75 to $ 250 a month for a banner ad and they can put two or three up there to start, as the blog increases in traffic, companies are more apt to spend a little bit extra money.

Most importantly if you want to find banner ad clients, you have to do your homework and you have to contact the companies. You cannot be shy and you should not get your feelings hurt if they say "no" at first. If they do hurt your feelings, just raise the price when they finally do call you back, and then you can smile on your way to the bank and no longer have hurt feelings. Please consider all this.
